Tell us your Topcoder story.

I heard of Topcoder because of my husband. He is a talent coder who learned algorithms as early as high school and attended TCO07. The first time he told me about Topcoder, I thought it was so cool! However I never thought I would become a Topcoder member at that time.

I came to Canada with my husband one and a half years ago. Getting away from familiar surroundings and speaking an unfamiliar language, everything made me nervous. I knew I needed to find something to do. I began to learn HTML/CSS/JS at home. I tried to compete in UI prototype, just for fun. I lost many contests but learned a lot. I won my first challenge two months later. It was really a lovely surprise. I think I proved myself in some way. Finally, I won a trip to TCO14 as a development finalist and was glad to know other members whom I used to know from their handle. Topcoder gives me a lot, more than I expected.
