TCO15’s Prototype Competition will take place online between August 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 (“Prototype Competition”). The Prototype Competition will consist of online qualifying contests, with up to twelve (12) of the highest scoring Contestants across all four (4) periods (each a “Period” and collectively, the “Prototype Competition Period”) winning a trip to the onsite Tournament and to compete at the Onsite Championship in Yogyatarta, Indonesia September 21-22, 2015 at Eastparc Hotel. The Prototype Competition will include the following tracks of competition: UI Prototype, Architecture, Conceptualization, and Specification. Tracks included in the Prototype Competition may be added or removed at topcoder’s sole discretion. Contestants are only eligible to win one trip to the onsite Tournament through the Prototype Competition and if the Contestant has already won a trip to the onsite Tournament through the Prototype Competition, the next highest scoring Contestant may win a trip if they have placement points greater than 0 in that Period.

The Prototype Competition is part of the Tournament, and by participating in this Competition, you agree to these rules and the topcoder Terms of Use.

During the Prototype Competition Period, Contestants who participate in Tournament-eligible prototype contests will receive points as outlined in these Rules. A Contestant’s submission will not be scored separately for the Prototype Competition. Only Tournament-eligible prototype contests in which registration has started during the four Periods shall be included in determining points for the Prototype Competition.

Onsite Rounds

Scoring in the Prototype Competition and each Period is determined based on the final placement for a Contestant’s Submission in a Tournament-eligible prototype contest in accordance with the rules of such Competition. A prototype contest is a Tournament-eligible Competition if it is identified by topcoder as being included as part of the Tournament . Placement scoring is as follows:

Highest Scoring Registered Contestant 11 Points
Second Highest Scoring Registered Contestant 9 Points
Third Highest Scoring Registered Contestant 7 points
Fourth Highest Scoring Registered Contestant 4 Points

Upon the completion of all Tournament-eligible prototype contests in a Period, all of the individual placement scores that a Contestant receives during that Period will be added for a cumulative placement score for the Period. Up to three (3) Contestants with the highest cumulative placement score during each Period will advance to the Onsite Championship (“Onsite Prototype Contestants”) as part of the onsite Tournament. Up to twelve (12) total Contestants from the four (4) Periods will advance to compete in the Onsite Championship.

In the event of a tie, the tie will be resolved in the following manner:

  • The tied Contestant who has the most 1st place submissions in Tournament-eligible Prototype contests within the Period shall advance.
  • If a tie still remains, then the remaining tied Contestant who has the most 2nd place submissions in Tournament-eligible Prototype contests within the Period shall advance.
  • If a tie still remains, then all remaining tied Contestants will advance.
