What are you hobbies besides Topcoder?

I love music. I'm a former guitarist of local pop-alternative band in my hometown and we launched an album in 2011. I also enjoy traveling, watching movies and reading motivational books.

What is your best tip for a new Topcoder member just starting out?

Read, read, and read the spec carefully, do some research, find an appropriate challenge, focus on one challenge, do your best and avoid last minute upload.

Tell us your Topcoder story.

First of all, I heard about Topcoder from my college friend. He told me a success story of one of TC member in 2008 when I was on my second year. I was interested and joined TC on August 27, 2008. I learned about its procedure, policy, and tried to compete on a challenge.

However, other campus activities, such as becoming a teaching assistant, an instructor of web development and programming didn’t allow me enough time to compete on the challenges. Moreover, my weekend was for my band, playing guitar, and composing a new song.

I became an active member in 2012 after hanging my guitar on the wall 🙂
My first win was on an iPad application challenge for TCO12 event. It motivated me to continue competing on another challenges. I earned my first studio cup top 5 badge in 2013.

After that, I just keep trying and competing and finally I become a TCO15 finalist!
